Transformation of the OUH
From 2027 the current Odense University Hospital (OUH) will be transformed into a green and vibrant urban area with mixed-use housing, large and small businesses, retail and a range of leisure and cultural offerings.
The project will be one of Denmark's largest transformation projects and is developed in cooperation between Freja Ejendomme, Realdania By & Byg and the city of Odense.
Open ideas competition
With an open ideas competition the partnership invites everybody who wants to contribute ambitious and innovative ideas for how the existing area may be transformed into an attractive and vibrant urban area with due consideration for the climate and resource consumption.
At the same time, the competition serves as an invitation to dialogue with the city of Odense. All submitted proposals will be exhibited and will also serve as important input for a subsequent structural masterplan competition.
The ideas competition has been launched 19 February 2026.
